2022 Global Top 50 Construction Machinery Enterprises: Ten Chinese Companies Listed, XCMG Ranks Third Globally
Ten Chinese enterprises have made it onto the KHL 2022 Global Top 50 Construction Machinery Manufacturers list, with XCMG achieving sales revenue of $18.1 billion, retaining its position as the third-largest globally and the largest domestically.
According to the latest Yellow Table rankings released by the British KHL Group's "International Construction" magazine on June 4, 2022, the top 10 global construction machinery manufacturers in 2021 were Caterpillar (13.9%), Komatsu(11%), XCMG (7.9%), Sany Heavy Industry (7%), John Deere (4.9%), Volvo Construction Equipment (4.7%), Zoomlion (4.5%), Liebherr (4.1%), Hitachi Construction Machinery (3.9%), and Sandvik (3.2%).
The Yellow Table indicates that the total sales revenue of the top 50 global construction machinery manufacturers in 2021 was $232.7 billion, marking a 20.8% year-on-year increase and reaching an all-time high. Among these, Caterpillar had sales revenue of nearly $32.1 billion, Komatsu $25.3 billion, Sany Heavy Industry $16 billion, and John Deere $11.4 billion.
The list includes ten Chinese companies, with XCMG and Sany ranking third and fourth, respectively, and Zoomlion dropping two places from last year to seventh. Additionally, there are LiuGong (15), Lonking (27), Sunward(32), CRCC (34),Shantui Construction Machinery(33), Zhejiang Dingli (40), and Lovol (42).
According to the Off-Highway Research report, the top 50 mainframe manufacturing companies in the global construction machinery industry sold approximately 1.2 million units of construction machinery equipment in 2021, a 9% increase from the previous year and a historical high.
Construction machinery is a foundational industry supporting the national economy and is regarded as an economic indicator. It includes equipment such as excavators, earthmoving machinery, cranes, compactors, and concrete machinery, used in real estate development, infrastructure construction, energy, and mining sectors.
In the 2022 Yellow Table, Chinese construction machinery enterprises accounted for 24.2% of the total sales revenue, the highest among all countries. American construction machinery enterprises accounted for 22.9%, and the Japanese market accounted for 21.2%.
CRCC entered the Yellow Table this year, rising to 36th place. Established in 2007 and headquartered in Changsha, Hunan Province, CCCC Tiangong is a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited and mainly produces intelligent shield tunneling equipment and railway track equipment.
